If you are planning a scavenger hunt for the holidays, you can get really creative. Not only are there hundreds of items that you can send your party-goers after, there are also many different ways that you can word the list.

When dealing with younger players, or if you want to keep things really simple, you can just write the item. For older players or if you are playing in a small area, you may want to make riddles that have to be deciphered.

Before you get too far into this, figure out what the playing field is. Is it in your home? If so, you need to take into account how many different holiday items you have, and how many people are going to be playing. Is the playing area the neighborhood? If so, the list should be things that your players can get from willing neighbors. Your scavenger hunt items will really be determined by where you are playing.

Some ideas may include:

• An old sock to represent a stocking
• Something peppermint flavored or scented
• A sprig of a Christmas tree or wreath (given by someone)
• A gingerbread cookie
• Something with a star on it
• Holiday sprinkles or confetti

• A packet of powdered cocoa or cider
• A piece of wrapping paper
