Scavenger hunts can be soo much fun, but at the same time they can be very intimidating to organize.
Ever since I had kids, I have found that having a scavenger hunt was a great way to get their minds going and to keep them away from boredom until we get to bed time. This is however one thing that still to this day scares me and most of you by the sounds of it, and that’s organizing a larger hunt.
How do you go about it? Where do you start? Am I good enough to run a community hunt?
These are all questions and fears that run through our head as we even contemplate if we should be running a scavenger hunt.
Why is it like this? I thought Scavenger Hunts were meant to be fun?
Glad you asked. Now I could claim that I know all the answers when in fact I don’t. There is one thing though and it stands out every time I talk to someone. When we don’t know where to start, it all seems very daunting.
Good news is I wanted to do something about it for you. I am creating some things that will help you out no matter what size a hunt you are planning on running. I am going to share with you some of my secrets that have helped me out over these past years. More on this in a minute.
You see, out of all the feedback I get from people, they all have one thing in common and that is “Where do I start? What does a really well run Scavenger hunt look and feel like?”
Before I get into what it is I am planning, there are a couple of things I want to share with you.
First, Don’t panic. There is absolutely no reason to panic. Even if you only have a couple hours left to et together a big hunt because you promised your church you will do it. Take a deep breath and let me show you a few things you can do even with an hour to go.
and Second, have a really good think about what it is you want out of the hunt?
Do you want to entertain a whole bunch of kids for your Daughters birthday? Do you wnt to get yur project team to better know each other and share some time together? By having a good think about what it is you want, you will be in a much better position to work out what it is you need to do to get it.
Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well it is and that is one of my biggest secrets. The simplest solution is often the best.
OKay so what am I going to do for you? Simply put, I am going to give you my best secrets to running a successful Scavenger Hunt. But I want you to use it in a different way than just reading another book or following along to a video. I want to give you the tools and the information in the right way that will help you plan and run a hunt that everyone will be talking about for a long time after.
